Trayvon Teacher Fired: Why Did Michigan Teacher Brooke Harris Get Fired do you know?

Brooke Harris, a teacher from Pontiac Academy for Excellence Middle School in Michigan, was fired after helping students organize a fundraiser for slain Florida teen Trayvon Martin's family.
According to the Associated Press, Harris helped students set up a "wear-a-hoodie-to school day" in memory of Trayvon Martin, who had been wearing a hoodie when he was shot to death on Feb. 26. Harris is claiming that because of her involvement with the fundraiser she was fired.

The Michigan teacher is stating that she is confused over her dismissal from the school. According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, Harris should not have been dismissed, and are petitioning for her to be reinstated.

"Unfortunately, I can't give you more details," said Superintendent Jacqueline Cassell to the Detroit Free Press, "but I can say that the reasons that are cited have never been an issue for any termination."

According to the group, students asked Harris if they could do a fundraiser where they would pay $1 to wear hoodies instead of their school uniform. The school denied the students request, even though previous fundraisers gave students a chance to not wear their uniforms.

Harris was originally suspended from the school because she "encouraged students to make their request [for the fundraiser] in person. "I'm a child of the civil rights movement," said Cassell. "But this is not the time in the school year." Cassell said the fundraiser would be a distraction.

After being suspended the teacher was then fired for coming to the school during her suspension. According to the Associated Press, the teacher said she only went to school to drop off prizes for her students. "I was told I was a bad teacher, that I was being unprofessional, that I'm being paid to teach, not to be an activist," Harris told the Detroit Free Press. "I want my job back," continued Harris, "but I'm not entirely sure if that's even possible."

Cassell said that rules need to be followed. "In every situation, there are work rules. When work rules are violated, there are consequences."

According to the Detroit Free Press, Cassell, who has worked for the school district that past three years,  is stepping down after the current school year.

A Fan's Reaction; Scott Hall Arrested for Beating His Girlfriend

Scott Hall, who performed for Vince McMahon's World Wrestling Entertainment company under the name Razor Ramon in the mid 90s, was arrested once again. The one- time former Intercontinental Champion was arrested Friday for allegedly choking his girlfriend. The girlfriend confirms that Scott Hall was in a drunken state when he got in the physical altercation with her.

This news comes as a sad reminder of Scott Hall's personal battle with drugs and alcohol. It was reported several weeks ago that Hall had been released from a WWE sponsored rehab program. It had also been rumored that he was visiting his son at a local wrestling school.

For those unfamiliar with the drama regarding Scott Hall, his history is unfortunate. Late last year the once towering superstar was the subject of a critically acclaimed documentary on ESPN. The 15 minute segment gave viewers an intimate observation into the life of Scott Hall.

In the documentary, the legend of the squared circle confesses to killing a man in self-defense in the mid 80s. Hall was acquitted of charges, but the guilt from that incident seeped into his conscience, and added to the stress of his hectic everyday life. When Scott Hall became an active full-time wrestler for the WWE, his drug habits only got worse. The documentary also shows Hall recalling a story of him and Shawn Michaels popping pills in a hotel room until they passed out completely.

For long time wrestling fans, the report of Scott Hall getting arrested comes as no surprise. Unfortunately, he has been in the position many times before. In addition to getting arrested, Scott Hall was admitted to a Rhode Island hospital in April 2011 after overdosing on prescription medications. Hall had just performed at a local wrestling event before being hospitalized.

In the last several years, Scott Hall has complete rehab numerous times, each at the expense of World Wrestling Entertainment. But no 30 day program has benefited the fallen hero. It's time for friends to step up and take drastic measures to save the life of Scott Hall. In my opinion, Hall needs to be admitted for a full psychiatric evaluation and will need 24 hour supervision. The man has gone through a lot of emotional turmoil and needs long term rehab, not a quick fix.

Vitt in Atop Saints, and Parcells Appears Out

It seemed such an intriguing idea at the time: Bill Parcells, the coaching icon, taking over the New Orleans Saints while his protégé, Sean Payton, served a full-season suspension for his role in the team’s bounty system.
But on Tuesday, Parcells, who had initially indicated he would at least consider the job in large part because of his relationship with Payton, made clear that he intended to remain retired from the sideline and would not coach the Saints.

“Only concern is about my friend Sean Payton,” Parcells said in a text message.

Instead, the Saints are considering turning to Joe Vitt, the team’s assistant head coach, who will serve a six-game suspension at the start of the regular season. Vitt is a close confidant of Payton’s and the N.F.L.’s bounty investigation revealed that he was designated by Payton to report on the activities of Gregg Williams, who was then the defensive coordinator and oversaw the bounty system.

When Payton was injured last season, his coaching duties were divided among several assistants, although Vitt assumed a role closest to a de facto head coach. It might be telling that in the hours after Commissioner Roger Goodell upheld their suspensions Monday, Payton and Vitt met with the coaching staff.

The Saints had no comment Tuesday.

Although nothing has been set in stone, elevating Vitt, who is also the linebackers coach, would leave in place the offensive and defensive coordinators, Pete Carmichael Jr. and Steve Spagnuolo. That would alleviate a concern about further disrupting the team that Payton expressed during the N.F.L.’s league meeting last month. It also offers the Saints a bit of continuity that Parcells, as an outsider with little relationship with members of the Saints coaching staff, could not have provided.

But Vitt’s tenure would have its own challenges. While Payton’s suspension starts April 16 — the same day players can report for off-season workouts — Vitt is allowed to work throughout the off-season and the preseason. He could run the voluntary player workouts and training camp, the schedules for which Payton has already laid out in preparation for his suspension.

Vitt’s suspension would begin with the first week of the regular season, and it is unclear which coach or coaches would make in-game decisions in his absence. He would be eligible to return in mid-October and could coach the final 10 regular-season games and any potential playoff games.

The Saints’ flirtation with Parcells slowed in recent days. Parcells said Monday that since playing golf with Payton and General Manager Mickey Loomis during the league meetings, he had had no contact with the Saints about the job. Payton had gauged Parcells’s interest, but even after the round of golf, Parcells said there were still issues to be resolved and even then he was not sure he would take it.

Throughout Parcells’s coaching career, he has considered teams only to change his mind, most notably with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Atlanta Falcons. Parcells, 70, has not coached since 2006 with the Dallas Cowboys. He was eligible for selection into the Hall of Fame this year but did not receive enough votes. Had he returned to coaching, he would have had to wait another five years before he was eligible again.

Quarterback Drew Brees, speaking to reporters in California about his golf tournament, would not directly answer whether he would be in New Orleans when off-season workouts begin Monday, but said he and his agent continue to work on a long-term deal with the Saints.

He also said he did not know what kind of punishment might be levied against his teammates.

“Whatever’s thrown at us this year, we’ll continue to thrive,” Brees said.

Regarding the bounty situation, Brees said, “This is a shock to all of us” and that the Williams audiotape released late last week was “hard for everybody to hear.”

Jennifer Love Hewitt's raunchy new role (+trailer)...Interesting!!!

Jennifer Love Hewitt plays a massage therapist who gives happy endings in raunchy new show The Client List. Photo / Supplied

She may play a part-time call girl in her new TV show, but Jennifer Love Hewitt says she will never appear nude on screen.

Hewitt plays Riley Parks in the raunchy Lifetime network show, a struggling single mother who begins working in a day spa without realising staff offer more than just massages.

Despite the nature of the show, Hewitt says she wouldn't have taken on the role if it called for full frontal nudity.

"I wouldn't have done nudity, no. That's not something that I feel particularly comfortable with," Hewitt told People.com.

"I also think that it's sexier not to show everything. I feel like imaginations can do way more."

Only one episode of The Client List, based on a 2010 movie of the same name that also starred Hewitt, has screened in America - but it has already proved to be controversial.

Massage therapists joined forces to launch a petition against the show, saying it perpetuated misconceptions that massages included inappropriate sexual contact.

"Massage Therapists are trained healthcare professionals and in most states are licensed and regulated by state medical boards," the petition said.

"They adhere to a code of ethics and in some cases are under higher ethical standards than other healthcare professionals - because of these very same misconceptions."

And Hewitt has defended criticism of the show's raunchy themes after billboard ads featuring her wearing lingerie were digitally altered to reduce the amount of cleavage on display.

"It's a TV show," she told E! Online. "They're not offended by Dexter or Nurse Jackie, but they're offended by me giving a happy ending?"

In criminally short ensembles, Lindsay Lohan and skinny sister Ali put their pale pins on parade

The Lohan sisters were the centre of attention today as they left a Los Angeles cafe.

It the pair were hoping to slip by unnoticed, they failed quite spectacularly as they stepped out in their respective leg-baring outfits.

Lindsay, 25, wore a ruffled cream blouse which covered what appeared to be a pair of frayed denim shorts.

But her Daisy Dukes were so tiny they were barely visible underneath her top, giving the impression she was not wearing anything on her bottom half.

Her sibling Ali - whose skinny frame has sparked concern of late - also kept things short - but not so sweet.

The 18-year-old model slipped into a pair of minuscule beige shorts and white blouse.

Lindsay and Ali were seen leaving Joan's On Third in West Hollywood with bags of food to-go.

They walked towards a black Porsche before heading off into the afternoon sunshine.

Lindsay didn't show any sign of concern following reports police are investigating her for allegedly getting into an altercation with a woman in a nightclub.

The alleged incident is said to have happened last week at The Standard Hotel in West Hollywood according to TMZ, with the apparent victim filing an incident report with the West Hollywood Sheriff's Department on Saturday.

Sources told the website that Lindsay got in a disagreement with a fellow party-goer on Thursday night after she made it clear she wasn’t happy with the female talking to her male friend.

Police sources say they will investigate the woman's claims to determine whether the details that she has told them are true or not.

However, Lohan's representative says the statements are false.

Steve Honig said: 'Lindsay was absolutely not involved in any sort of altercation whatsoever. This is clearly another case of someone looking for money and 15 minutes of fame.'

And it has also emerged that the woman tried to sell her story to a magazine.

A source close to the actress told Radar: 'The woman contacted the magazine on Friday before news broke that she had even filed the police report.

'The woman filed the police report on Saturday, two days after she claimed Lohan assaulted her. Lindsay's camp believes the only reason the woman filed the police report was because the magazine wouldn't buy her story without it'.

Perhaps the actress would do well to avoid the night life scene altogether.

Her probation was revoked earlier this month after four years, with the judge pressing that she needs to ‘stop clubbing’.

Sacco, 21, was found dead in her apartment about 40 miles northwest of Columbus on Friday. According to CBS affiliate WBNS, investigators said that they believed Sacco's on again-off again boyfriend Matthew Puccio, 25, stabbed her around March 22, suffocated her with a bag and dismembered her body.  Authorities also believe that with the help of others he then he  transported some of the body parts to other locations.

According to NBC affiliate WDTN-TV, his bond is more than $532,000.

Puccio was arrested along with a man and woman from Fenton, Mich.
